ArtsBoston encourages teens and kids to partake in the area artscene with spring program
ArtsBoston and MassMutual are providing 8,000 half-price tickets to more than 50 spring performances for kids and teens as part of its spring program “Get Artventurous.”
Get Artventurous also includes an opportunity to enter-to-win one year family memberships to the Museum of Science and Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum and activities in partnership with BostonCentral, a website featuring family events and resources for the Greater Boston and New England areas.
Get Artventurous Launched March 24 and will continue through April 28.
“The start of spring marks a perfect time to set off on some amazing arts adventures,” ArtsBoston director Catherine Peterson said. “Our region is rich with cultural offerings that will inspire, entertain and educate kids including local favorites like Blue Man Group and Boston Children’s Theatre’s world premiere of “The Homework Machine,” to touring productions like Big Apple Circus “Luminocity” which opens tomorrow on City Hall Plaza. And because the half-price deals are powered by nonprofit BosTix, every dollar spent gets reinvested back into the local arts community, helping sustain arts programming year-round.”
Other children shows being offered at half-price include the East Coast premiere of “Where the Mountain Meets the Moon” presented by Wheelock Family Theatre, the joyful Disney Junior Live on Tour! “Pirate and the Princess Adventures” at the Agganis Arena and the National Marionette Theatre’s “Beauty and the Beast” presented by Music Worcester.
Teen shows include “Zakir Hussain & Masters of Percussion” at Symphony Hall presented by World Music/CRASHarts, Sodheim and Lapines musical “Into the Woods” presented by Lyric Stage Company and Moscow Festival Ballet’s production of “Sleeping Beauty.”
The one-year family membership up for grabs for the Museum of Science is the “Basic 5” membership, which includes unlimited admission for five people for a year, two passes to the Mugar Omni Theater and Charles Hayden Planetarium and a 10 percent discount at the gift shop. The Isabella Stewart Gardner membership is the “Friend” membership and includes unlimited admission for two adults for a year, complementary museum passes for two guests, a 10 percent discount and more.
