Director of Nursing for the Community Health Centers

The Director of Nursing for the Community Health Centers is responsible for the development of nursing policies, quality improvement efforts, the coordination of staffing and professional development for the nursing and support staff of the community health centers (CHC’s) of Harbor Health’s medical departments (Neponset Health Center, Geiger Gibson Community Health Center and Harbor Community Health Center-Hyannis.) Duties include but are not limited to managing the clinical nurse managers of the CHC’s who are responsible for the day-to-day functions of the nursing and clinical support staff by: facilitating and managing problem solving; staffing; designing and implementing professional development plans/programs; project management of strategic goals and objectives, leading the practice transformation for patient centered medical home and standardizing the practice across the health centers, be a leader in the development and implementation of the medical home model infrastructure; and taking the leadership role for the Infection Control Plan as well as chairing the Infection Control Committee.

Minimum Skills, Experience and Educational Requirements:

Five years of experience in clinical nursing, 2 years of experience working in a patient centered medical initiative, 1 year of experience in case management,

2 years of supervisory or administrative experience, excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills,

Computer literacy with intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office Word, Excel and Outlook.

Required Certifications and Licenses:

Current Massachusetts (RN) Nursing License, CPR,, Infection Control certification (or receipt of certification within 2 years of hire).

Supervisory Responsibility:

Clinical Nurse Managers at the Health Centers, Specialty Nurses – Pain Management Case Manager, Community (HIV) case manager, Grant Program Assistant, Other grant nursing personnel (i.e. Community Partnership).

Preferred Skills, Experience and Educational Requirements:

Ambulatory nursing experience preferred, BSN with 5 Years of nursing experience, MSN

Infection Control Certification, proven experience in the development and implementation of training clinical materials, 5 Years in health care management.
