Every child’s favorite doctor is taking a trip to Boston.
Disney Junior’s animated series “Doc McStuffins” is stopping at Franklin Park Zoo Sunday as part of the Doc Mobile multi-city tour.
Doc McStuffins is a 6-year-old girl who hosts a clinic in her backyard playhouse where she communicates with and heals stuff animals and broken toys.
The event, being held from 10:30 to 4 p.m., will teach children, 4 to 7, age-appropriate lessons on health and wellness.
Admission to the event is free with paid zoo admission.
Children will have the opportunity to step into the Doc’s role and operate on their own toys and participate in other activities.
Inside a 27-foot Airstream Trailer modeled after the Doc McStuffins’ playhouse, children can play in “Stuffy’s Imagination Playhouse,” get moving in the “Doc’s Stretch and Flex” area, learn the importance of drinking water at “Lenny’s Hydration Station” and learn how to create a healthy and balanced plate at “Doc’s Picnic Time.”
Families will also have the chance to meet actual doctors from the Artemis Medical Society, an organization with more than 2,500 African-American physicians from around the world.
The organization was formed after the group saw themselves in “Doc McStuffins,” according to a press release from Franklin Park Zoo.
“Doc McStuffins” has become a household name and was ranked 2012’s No. 1 cable TV series for kids 2 to 5 and No. 1 cable TV preschool series in total viewers and women 18 to 49.
