Heroes Among Us

At a special State House ceremony, the Boston Celtics and the Massachusetts State Lottery honored 43 local residents. Many in the audience were moved by the stories of personal change told by the honorees.  Stories ranged from a combat duty Marine in Afghanistan who survived two explosions and was awarded two Purple Hearts; to a Reverend involved in the Civil Rights Movement; to a young woman proud to say she is a “Big Sister”.

The 2011-2012 honorees were recognized by Celtics legend Tom “Satch” Sanders, Massachusetts State Treasurer Steven Grossman, and Celtics Co-Owner Robert Epstein.  The ceremony was emceed by Boston Celtics Public Address Announcer Eddie Palladino and WCVB-TV Anchor Susan Wornick served as the keynote.

Hill Holliday Gets Konnected!

This month’s Hill Holiday’s Get Konnected! event hosted by Colette Phillips was dubbed “the premiere networking event for urban professionals.” The diverse professional crowd spanned the banking, advertising, law, government and the non-profit fields. The view from Hill Holiday’s 35th floor offices overlooking the city and the harbor glittered as much as the crowd.  It was a great way to network and spend a casual evening after work. You’re bound to run into someone that you know, (I always do), and who knows, your next job, career change or great opportunity could be found at the next Get Konnected!

Dance Again World Tour

I finally got to see my girl Jennifer Lopez, or La Lopez (as I call her), live and in person when she and Enrique Iglesias hit the Garden recently.  It was an unexpected surprise getting tickets to the show and box seats at that!  It was a hot show and I was impressed. Lopez performed some of my favorite songs like “Ain’t It Funny,” “I’m Into You” and “If You Had My Love.”  She was full of energy, danced all night, sounded great and wowed me with her costume changes. That’s why I call her La Lopez!

The Partnership Celebrates 25 Years

The Partnership, Inc. celebrated their 25th anniversary by hosting “A Conversation with Chris Matthews” at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center. Liz Walker fielded questions for Matthews at the sold-out luncheon.  Matthews was funny, self-deprecating and insightful about the upcoming presidential election.  Attendees received a signed copy of his new book, “Jack Kennedy: Elusive Hero.”
