Ferdinand “Fred” Alvaro
Ferdinand “Fred” Alvaro Jr., partner-in-charge of the Gonzalez Saggio and Harlan LLP New England office in Boston, has been selected to receive the Boston Latino TV Access Awards 2011 “Influential Leader Award.”
The award, scheduled to be presented at a special celebration on June 30 by Gov. Deval Patrick, is given annually to “an individual who demonstrates outstanding dedication, commitment and leadership that strengthens the Boston Latino community.”
Alvaro has served many important roles in the community, Boston Latino TV explained, including the founding the first charter school in Salem, serving on the state’s Judicial Nominating Commission and his latest stint on the Massachusetts Department of Transportation Board of Directors.
“Above all,” Boston Latino TV said, “Fred still finds the time to meet and counsel ‘up-and-coming’ Latinos and mentor them on executive skills, leadership tactics as well as advice.”
“I am honored and humbled to receive this award,” Alvaro said. “It demonstrates the continued emergence of Latinos as important contributors to economic and political life in Massachusetts. Furthermore, it underscores our firm’s determination to establish a strong presence in the New England legal and business communities, while we remain true to our Latino and African American roots.”
