Halima Mohamed

Halima Mohamed was recently promoted to vice president of programs and services at the Whittier Street Health Center.

Mohamed immigrated to Boston in 2000 from a Refugee Settlement Camp in Canada. She fled her country of birth, Somalia, during the civil war and lived in Refugee Settlement Camps in Kenya, Belgium and Canada.

In 2000, she was hired as a case manager at Whittier Street Health Center and she excelled. She earned a certificate in health center management at Suffolk University in 2007 and a master’s degree in public health from Boston University in 2004.

Prior to being promoted to her current position, Mohamed served in several positions at Whittier including as director of quality improvement and performance improvement, director of clinical operations and case manager in the OB/GYN Department.

In her current role, she oversees all non-primary care services, quality improvement initiatives, public health programs and clinical support operations.

Whittier Street CEO Frederica Williams said that Mohamad has been “a valuable” member of the Whittier team and is “a role model to new immigrants pursuing their dream.”

In her spare time, Mohamed serves as a mentor to youth and families from Somalia.
