Yvette Rodriguez
John J. Drew, president and CEO of Action for Boston Community Development, Inc. (ABCD), recently announced the appointment of Yvette Rodriguez as director, ABCD Head Start and Children’s Services.
Rodriguez will oversee the citywide ABCD Head Start program that serves more than 2,400 low-income children and families each year.
Rodriguez brings a wealth of expertise to this position. Since 2007, she has served as deputy director of program operations for ABCD Head Start and Children’s Services. Prior to that appointment, she was chief operating officer (COO) at Inquilinos Boricuas en Accion (IBA).
She also served for 10 years as Director of IBA’s early childhood program, Esquelita Boriken, which expanded programming significantly and obtained National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) accreditation under her leadership.
“Yvette is an effective, committed administrator with very relevant early childhood education experience and strong ties to every part of the Boston-area community,” said ABCD president and CEO John J. Drew.
A native of Puerto Rico, Rodriguez served in the office of the governor of Puerto Rico as the community liaison on constituent and agency issues.
Rodriguez received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Puerto Rico. She also was a member of the Boston Public School superintendent search committee in 2006 and the Governor’s Readiness Subcommittee on Early Education in 2007.
