Anthony Coley
Anthony Coley recently joined the staff of U.S. Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, D-Mass., as communications director. In this role, Coley is responsible for running the senator’s press office, which includes Kennedy’s work on the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, the Armed Services Committee and the Judiciary Committee.
The new position marks a return to Capitol Hill for Coley after a two-year stint in Trenton, N.J., where he served as press secretary and communications director to Gov. Jon S. Corzine. Previously, Coley served as the spokesman for then-Senator Corzine in Washington. Previous positions have included communications director for former Sen. Zell Miller, D-Ga., and former Congressman Harold Ford, D-Tenn.
A native of North Carolina, Coley also served as a regional communications director for U.S. Sen. John F. Kerry, D-Mass., during his presidential campaign in 2004. He received his Bachelor of Arts in degree business administration from Morehouse College and his Masters of Arts degree in legislative affairs from the George Washington University’s Graduate School of Political Management.
“Anthony is a valuable addition to our team,” said Kennedy in a statement. “He brings with him a wealth of experience and skill and I look forward very much to working with him.”
