Council candidates campaign finance update

Not long after we posted Eliza Dewy’s article on this year’s City Council races on the web Wednesday, we got a phone call from the campaign of Tito Jackson noting that the fundraising totals cited for the councilor did not reflect his latest filing. Our press deadline is Monday, and the campaigns weren’t required to report on the last 15-day period until Tues., May 5.

In that 15-day period, Jackson raised an impressive $19,078.83, bringing his campaign war chest up to a respectable $28,111.71 after expenditures. See how he managed that here (click on the “receipts” tab).

Other candidates with impressive totals for the latter half of April included at-large Councilor Ayanna Pressley, who took in $14,819.93, bringing her total up to $46,384.90, and Anissa Essaibi George, who took in $10,021.27 and ended the report period with $39,277.86.

Among at-large incumbents Michael Flaherty still leads the pack with his war chest of $86,781.27. Incumbent Stephen Murphy recorded $13,985.00 in contributions and an ending balance of $35,012.78. Michelle Wu brings up the rear with just $4,675.82 in the bank.
