George A. Russell Jr. will be honored for his achievements at the We Are Boston Gala in celebration of “Boston’s Diversity, Immigrant Heritage and Contributions,” on Dec. 12 at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center. He is being honored tfor his many inspiring contributions in education and workforce talent development, as well as his leadership in a city-wide effort to address youth violence.
Russell is chairman of the board and president of the State Street Foundation, and is responsible for the corporation’s philanthropic and community support programs globally.
He now serves on the board of directors of Tufts Health Plan Foundation, the African Presidential Archives and Research Center at Boston University and is a trustee of the Massachusetts Math & Science Initiative.
He is also a member of the New York Conference Board Center for Citizenship and Sustainability.
