What do you do when you have been in business for 20 years? You celebrate…which is just what Kelley Chunn and Associates (KCABoston) did to mark 20 years of providing multi-cultural, social marketing and public relations in Boston and beyond.
Twenty years ago I had a vision to use the power of communication and collaboration to promote positive social change and amplify the voices of underserved communities – from grassroots to global.
My entrepreneurial journey has been like a jazz improvisation …from starting my practice while teaching at Northeastern University’s School of Journalism and getting that first call to do a project for then Boston City Hospital – now Boston Medical Center - to landing my first major contract, the Tobacco Education Campaign for DPH and taking the leap to become the sole proprietor of my own business. What a roller coaster ride it has been- and it’s not over yet.
To recognize this milestone, Mayor Menino and Governor Patrick issued proclamations and Boston City Councilor Charles Yancey declared May 1st as Kelley Chunn Day in the City of Boston. What a thrill that was.
Joining me at the reception at Taylor House in Jamaica Plain were, among others: City Councilor Charles Yancey, City Councilor Tito Jackson, Reggie Nunnally, Executive Director of the Office of Supplier Diversity, Charlotte Golar Richie, Senior Vice-President of Policy, Advocacy and Government Relations for YouthBuild USA, Doctor Azzie Young, President and CEO of the Mattapan Community Health Center and Sarah Ann Shaw, Democratic State Committee, former TV News Reporter, activist and advocate and the Bay State Banner’s own Sandra Casagrand.
As a special thank you to family, friends, colleagues supporters, community and client partners, we produced this video in collaboration with Boston Neighborhood Network TV. Watch it now.
