F. Javier Torres

F. Javier Torres has been named senior program officer for The Boston Foundation’s work in the area of arts and culture. Torres comes to The Boston Foundation from the Villa Victoria Center for the Arts at Inquilinos Boricuas en Acción (IBA), where he served as director for five years.

While at the IBA, he expanded the audience and reach of the organization while building strong relationships with artists, community members and civic leaders across neighborhoods and arts disciplines.

“Javier has been an outstanding leader,” said Robert Lewis Jr., vice president for Programs at The Boston Foundation. “He will bring vision, experience and passion to his work at the Foundation, as well as a profound understanding of Boston’s wonderfully diverse neighborhoods and people.”

In addition to his role at Villa Victoria Center for the Arts, Torres is a member of the planning team for MassCreative, an advocacy organization for the arts and cultural sector in Massachusetts; chair of the Boston Cultural Council; and a member of the WGBH Community Advisory Board, the Multicultural Committee of the Massachusetts Office of Travel and Tourism, and the Greater Boston Convention and Visitor’s Bureau. He also has spoken on the topics of leadership development, Latino culture and social media at the National Association of Latino Arts and Culture.
