Citizens Financial Group, Inc. recently announced the appointment of Heidi Brooks as Senior Vice President and Director of Charitable Giving. In her new role, Brooks oversees philanthropy programs that serve the diverse needs of communities throughout Citizens’ 12-state territory. She is based in Boston.

Through the Citizens Charitable Foundation, Citizens supports nonprofit groups focused on addressing housing, community development and basic human needs. In 2009, the foundation provided support to more than 2,000 organizations.  

Brooks has dedicated more than 15 years to building strong communities through sustainable programs.

Prior to joining Citizens, Brooks was Director of Community Relations at John Hancock Financial Services, where she represented the company in community relations, managed her department’s finances and oversaw $11 million in cash and in-kind giving annually.

Brooks also developed and managed the MLK Summer Scholars program, Hancock collaboration with The Boston Globe and Boston University that provided 650 summer jobs to Boston teens.

Brooks earned a bachelor of arts from the University of South Carolina Honors College, a master of arts from The Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
