Michael Jackson’s death: Processing the shocking end to a legend’s life

baystatebanner
A young Michael Jackson performs the Jackson 5 hit, “Ben,” on an episode of “The Sonny and Cher Comedy Hour.”

Somber news out of Los Angeles this evening, as following a cardiac arrest at the age of 50. He was one of the most gifted and awe-inspiring performers in popular music history, winning fans the world over with an incredible and singular combination of raw talent, natural charisma and unrivaled showmanship.

His death is already resonating across the globe; the passing of a man whose cultural contributions affected so many so deeply will be felt for quite some time.

Banner readers, please feel free to use this space to share your thoughts about the late “King of Pop” — the story of how you were introduced to him, your favorite songs or performances, unique memories, or reactions to his passing.  We ask that you please be respectful of the dead; discussion of Jackson’s journey and his admittedly complicated legacy is certainly welcome, but comments of a defamatory or distasteful nature will be moderated.  Thanks for reading, and for being a part of the Banner community.
