Filmmakers Collaborative and the Radical Organizing Conference (ROC) present “At Home in Utopia – Then and Now,” an event focusing on the relationship between affordable cooperative housing and movement building. The event will feature a screening of the film “At Home in Utopia,” followed by a panel discussion, reception, and raffle. The film documents a story that has many parallels today by honing in on the United Workers Cooperative Colony. A housing cooperative where the residents responded to the threat of economic collapse by building a movement against foreclosures and for affordable housing, racial integration, and workers’ and tenants’ rights. The panel will explore the relationship between the history depicted in the film and the situation faced by working people today. The largest free folk festival in the nation is happening once again this summer, from July 24-26, 2009 in Lowell, Massachusetts. ONGOING UNTIL OCTOBER Old Town Trolley Tours of Boston combines some of the city's gravest moments with a theatrical dose of good humor to present The Ghosts & Gravestones Tour, which returns for its 12th season of "frightseeing" entertainment -- with some horrifying new elements. Featuring a cast of costumed characters and nefarious Gravedigger Guides, the fully-narrated Ghosts & Gravestones Tour is conducted on a black bunting–bedecked trolley which whisks guests to some of Boston's most haunted locations.
