"Around Town Presents": Evacuation Day 1776: A Lecture and Slide Show

Around Town sits in as Revolutionary War researcher, John Horrigan, retraces the steps of the historic military expedition that helped free Boston from British occupation during the War of Independence. In an amazing engineering feat undertaken by Henry and William Knox in the winter of 1775-1776, the brothers used 80 yokes of oxen to drag 59 cannons a total of 300 miles in 56 days. This culminated in a clanndestine battery placement at Dorchester Heights overlooking Boston Harbor and persuaded the British to evacuate Boston. That and other fascinating facts relating to this milestone in the city's history will be the subject of John Horrigan's slide lecture.
