<p> On Saturday, January 18th over 500 families came out in support of The BASE’s 1st Annual U. Dream College and Resource Fair, held at the DCR’s Melnea Cass Center (120 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd).  The event in celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.,  attracted families from the Dorchester, Roxbury and Mattapan communities as well as Brockton, Lawrence, East Boston and New Hampshire.  During the 4 hour event families and participants had access to and were engaged with over 20 colleges and trade- school programs from all across New England.  These colleges and universities were also featured during the “College Smack Down”; a 90 second pitch to audience members on the benefits of attending their institution.   Other fantastic highlights during the event included a keynote address by Health and Human Services Chief of Staff, Mr. Felix Arroyo, over $100,000 in scholarships and stipends awarded, on- site college applications and acceptance and on-site financial aid assistance.<br />The event’s entertainment featured Ms. Courtney Boston and the Touch 106.1 FM radio station and Universal Music Group Distribution’s recording artist, Breje.   <br /></p>
