Charlie Baker has appointed Edward O. Owens, Jr. to the Massachusetts Growth Capital Corporation Board of Directors. Mr. Owens is a Certified Public Accountant and Chief Financial Officer of Owens Companies, Inc., the oldest minority-owned and operated company in New England.

“We are pleased to welcome such an outstanding small business leader to the Board,” said MGCC Chairman Nam Pham. “The degree and depth of his experience will strengthen MGCC. We look forward to Ed’s insight as we continue our work empowering small business through financing and managerial assistance to create economic opportunities for all here in Massachusetts.”

Overseeing a third-generation, family-owned business that specializes in commercial moving and warehousing, Mr. Owens brings a unique business owner perspective and over a decade of financial leadership experience to MGCC. Prior to joining the family business, Mr. Owens worked for TripAdvisor, Inc., LogMeIn, Inc., and Deloitte & Touche, LLP.

“I am excited to join Mass Growth Capital Corporation’s Board of Directors,” said Mr. Owens. “Providing access to capital for small businesses is essential and often determines the success or failure of small businesses. I look forward to working with MGCC and to create more opportunities for small businesses which play such an important role in our economy.”

Mr. Owens is a graduate of Northeastern University, where he received both his Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree of Science in Accounting. He is a Certified Public Accountant in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and Corporator for East Cambridge Savings Bank.
