Purpose:

This is an exciting time at Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology (BFIT): The academic offerings are expanding, and there is opportunity to grow enrollment substantially through progressive leadership and focused hard work. The Assistant Director of Admissions for BPS Partnerships is a member of the admissions and academics teams working foremost to recruit students from the Boston Public Schools (BPS) into BFIT’s early access to college (EAC) programs. The Assistant Director manages day to day operations of dual enrollment initiatives and implements strategies in the strategic recruitment plan. The Assistant Director will also leverage the EAC network of contacts and dual enrollment capacities to strengthen the presence of Admissions within Boston Public Schools and select high schools in greater Boston and will expand partnerships and collaboration within existing and new EAC high schools. The success of the Assistant Director depends on knowledge of BPS issues and activities and on good relationships with BPS personnel at schools and the central office and with the leadership of community-based organizations.

Essential Functions:

  • Represent BFIT as the primary liaison to community partners such as Boston Public Schools (BPS), The Boston Foundation, Boston Private Industry Council (PIC), Boston STEM Network, Boston After School and Beyond, Boston Youth Environmental Network (BYEN), Citizen Schools, The Education Resources Institute (TERI), Building Educated Leaders for Life (BELL), and uAspire
  • Develop and implement recruitment plans in consultation with the Director, specific to new programs that are planned over the next five years
  • Review policies and practices and recommend changes to improve dual enrollment
  • Meet with prospective students, parents, guidance counselors, industry professionals, and employment agencies by conducting high school visits, and representing the college at industry events
  • Meet with prospective students and families’ on-campus providing formal interviews (as needed), information sessions and tours of the facilities.
  • Manage EAC recruitment initiatives and the BPS Partnerships network as well as EAC staff
  • Collect, analyze, and disseminate data relative to the Boston Public Schools and EAC
  • Collaborate with college offices to assist in the marketing, recruitment, enrollment, and retention strategies of dual enrollment students
  • In collaboration with the President and Development Office, identify and cultivate additional funding sources to further enhance the BFIT’s ability to serve dual enrollment students and to assist in their pursuit of a college degree
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean of Recruitment

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required with a Master’s degree preferred.
  • Background in secondary education, higher education administration, counseling, business, marketing, communications, or technology preferred.
  • Three years experience in dual enrollment program administration, admissions, marketing, education, or community building is required.
  • Experience working with and a demonstrated sensitivity to a diverse urban student population, many of whom are first generation college students, are essential to the incumbent’s success.
  • Demonstrated ability to form partnerships and effectively build and lead teams.
  • Availability for evening and weekend work during peak times with the ability to travel to and from partner locations as needed. Driver’s license and mode of transportation required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and strong presentation skills with demonstrated ability to develop interpersonal and organizational relationships.
  • The ability to set multiple priorities and accomplish tasks under deadline and the ability to pay special attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, student information systems, database administration, Internet, social networking, and email and the ability to utilize and train colleagues on new software and other technology as needed.
