POSITION SUMMARY

YouthBuild USA administers and maintains a web-based reporting application for all YouthBuild programs that are part of our Affiliated Network. This reporting system is the primary source for program outcomes data used for grant management, quality assurance and program improvement. The Data Services Manager supports the smooth functioning of the Data Services Team by assuming responsibility for the effective coordination and delivery of training, technical assistance and resources for local YouthBuild programs using this reporting system. This work is accomplished with in-person and virtual training and a customer service phone and email help-desk.

The successful candidate must have experience providing assistance and training in technology to users with a wide range of abilities. He/she must also have a nuanced understanding of how data is collected and analyzed and of why performance data is important in a non-profit setting. Relationship-building and communication skills are of highest importance. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to manage relationships with a field of nearly two hundred local organizations that is diverse in geography, culture, technical skill level and resources. Some travel is required.

Tasks will include but not be limited to the following:

  • Developing and delivering high quality and consistent individual and small group training using multiple modes of communication including web-based seminars, telephone trainings and in-person training
  • Creating innovative tools to teach good data management practices.
  • Providing help-desk assistance to local program staff by telephone, email, and other web-based methods
  • Assisting the Director of Data Services in the creation of reports, narratives and other support documents for both internal and external consumption.
  • Encouraging and monitoring timely and accurate submittal of data from local programs
  • Propose new features or improved functionality for the reporting system, and for the systems/procedures that support the delivery of excellent data services.
  • Testing new features as needed
  • Producing reports and analysis o to support the work of the YouthBuild USA and local YouthBuild programs.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 2-4 years of experience either working in a data-related field in a similar non-profit environment or in a technical customer service setting.
  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills with demonstrated experience developing and delivering trainings to small- to medium-sized groups on technical tasks
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships
  • Demonstrated ability to think and act strategically, tactically, and creatively
  • Experience with telephone-based assistance
  • Well-developed skills using Excel spreadsheets for data analysis required
  • Solid understanding of relational database concepts
  • Experience with SQL a plus.
  • Ability to learn quickly and deliver quality finished products on deadline
  • Ability to work on several projects concurrently
  • A record of accomplishment working in diverse, entrepreneurial, fast-paced, and team-oriented environments
  • Ability to work well autonomously and also thrive in a team setting
  • Ability and desire to work with members of a diverse nonprofit organization
  • Flexibility, adaptability
