The Highland Street Foundation’s Free Fun Fridays program will offer free admission to Freedom Trail® Foundation-led tours tomorrow, Friday, July 25, 2014. Individuals are invited to enjoy walking along Boston’s iconic 2.5 mile red walking path leading to 16 nationally significant historic sites, every one an authentic American treasure. Preserved and dedicated by the citizens of Boston in 1958, the Freedom Trail today is a unique collection of museums, churches, meeting houses, burying grounds, parks, a ship, and historic markers that tell the story of the American Revolution and beyond. In order to ensure a fantastic Freedom Trail experience, the Foundation will limit the number of passes to 60 per tour.
This year, a record-breaking 67 venues are participating in Free Fun Fridays, with five to seven cultural venues open free-of-charge each Friday this summer. Now in its sixth year, Free Fun Fridays is a 10-week program, which runs from June 27 – August 29. The Highland Street Foundation provides grants to participating venues to cover the cost of opening their doors for free. It has invested more than $650,000 to support the 2014 “Free Fun Fridays” program. Celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, Highland Street Foundation has proudly donated more than $150 million to 950 groups since its inception in 1989.
