Program Associate, Mentoring

POSITION SUMMARY

The Mentoring Program Associate is a full-time position and will be a key staff person dedicated to the growth of YouthBuild’s mentoring work. The position will interact with the YouthBuild USA mentoring staff, department staffs, program mentoring coordinators and staff, outside consultants, partners, and the overall mentoring community.

The successful candidate will have excellent administration and computer skills, good writing and editing skills, considerable content knowledge, strong attention to detail and organizational skills, familiarity with basic budget and accounting procedures, strong communication skills, and personable with the public.

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

SCOPE OF WORK

  • Systematize data and write reports in collaboration with the data management team for WebSTA-Q and DCTAT.
  • Collect monthly reimbursement requests from subawardees, perform the initial review, and initiate the vouchers process.
  • Provide administrative and fiscal technical assistance to subawardees.
  • Lead the updates to the Mentoring Community of Practice website and Mentoring section of the YouthBuild USA website.
  • Provide administrative support to the Mentoring department as needed.
  • Assist programs with all Mentoring data collection technical assistance request.
  • Create and maintain a system to capture and share the knowledge management objects created by the National Mentoring Alliance.
  • Maintain systems for communication, data, and financial tracking.
  • Maintain files on all subawardees and National Mentoring Alliance members.
  • Handle routine communications with subawardees and National Mentoring Alliance members.
  • Copy andedit proposals, public communications, and reports to OJJDP.
  • Lead and assist in the design of products and presentations.
  • Create information and white papers on assigned research topics.
  • Substantive expertise in job skills, life skills and life plans.
  • Functional expertise is web 3.0 products, COP’s, and knowledge management.
  • Maintain social media and data storage tools used by Mentoring department i.e. Facebook, Twitter, Dropbox, Google Drive, Survey Monkey, etc.
  • Participate in all staff meeting, mentoring conference calls, and monthly team meetings.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred. English or Business major a plus.
  • 3 years of experience in related field.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Good writing and editing skills.
  • Familiarity with basic budget and accounting procedures.
  • Strong communication skills. Sensitive to the interests of a variety of stakeholders.
  • Mentoring experience a plus.
  • Independent learner and self motivated.
  • Computer proficient and comfortable with MS windows OS and MS office suite.
  • Basic understanding of open source social media with application to learning networks i.e. (web 2.0/3.0).
  • Good judgment, discretion, confidentiality.
  • Ability to function under pressure, meet deadlines, handle multiple requests, and follow through on tasks.
  • Can work independently and as part of a team
