“What’s Hot” in the City!

This time of the year, the city is abuzz with a host of live performances from concerts and plays to theatre, art and even dining al fresco. Here’s a look at what’s hot this during the Fourth of July holiday stretch.

On June 27, Boston Cyberarts and the Massachusetts Convention Center Authority present

“Art on the Marquee,” featuring six new digital artworks from local Massachusetts artists, at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center from 6:30 pm. to 8:30 p.m. Admission is free. For more, info visit www.artonthemarquee.com.

Also, on June 27 is the kick off for the 15th Annual Roxbury International Film Festival at the Museum of Fine Arts at 7 p.m. followed by an after party at the Skywalk Observatory at the Prudential Center. For more information, go to www.roxburyinternationalfilmfestival.org.

If you are a fan of America’s a national pastime, Boston’s hometown team, the Red Sox are in town for a weekend series against the Toronto Blue Jays at Fenway Park with games on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Tickets are available at www.redsox.com.

If theatre is your thing, then this is the final weekend to catch two wonderful productions. First is the 2008 Tony Award winning musical In the Heights and the second is the 2013 Pulitzer Prize Finalist Rapture, Blister, Burn. Both are playing at the Calderwood Pavilion in the South End. Across the bridge in Cambridge is the Brazilian Country Festival on June 29. Admission is free for this festival of food, music and dance traditions taking place at 400 Cardinal Medeiros Avenue from 5 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.

On July 5 as part of its “First Friday of Every Month” series the Institute of Contemporary Art Boston celebrates with guest DJs, live performances, gallery talks, specialty drinks and more. The ICA’s Water Café offers a small plates menu and full bar, including cocktails inspired by the museum’s current exhibitions. Tickets: Free for ICA members; $15 nonmembers, 21+.

The Paradise Rock Club will feature the comedy show “F/X Presents: The Totally Biased Stand Up Tour”on July 11, with headliner W. Kamau Bell, as well as Janine Brito and Kevin Kataoka. Cant’ get enough of the all the food trucks in the city? Make your way over to the Rose Kennedy Greenway to sample fare from more than 20 different food trucks and carts participating in the “Greenway Mobile Eats” program extending from Chinatown to the North End.
