Crystal Johnson, founder and principal of Integrative Sustainability and Environmental Solutions (ISES), recently received the 2012 Women’s Achiever award from the YWCA of Boston during its 18th annual academy of women achievers luncheon.

Johnson launched the environmental consulting company after almost two decades of educating diverse industries about how to best reduce their impact on the environment. She is a specialist in energy, water/wastewater and natural resources.

Johnson’s professional career provides her with more than 20 years experience in sustainability management, environmental planning and assessment and compliance review. As a senior environmental planner and strategist, she is a thought leader in sustainable economy dynamics.

She developed the Massachusetts Annual Sustainable Economy Conference (SEC). The SEC builds bridges between the government, business, academic, nonprofit and community sectors for the purpose of creating sustainable communities and a sustainable economy in Massachusetts.

Johnson is also the recipient of the Boston and Vicinity Club’s Business Award.

She writes Exhale Magazine’s online blog “Women and the Environment” and has written for the Bay State Banner about the black community and the green economy.
