Steven Tompkins

Steven Tompkins, chief of external affairs and communications for the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department, has been chosen to join the Executive Staff of the “Elizabeth Warren for Senate” campaign as a Senior Advisor.

Tompkins, a resident of Hyde Park, brings to the Warren campaign more than 30 years of experience in communications, marketing, media production and public affairs. Before assuming his post at the Sheriff’s Department, Tompkins served as the director of marketing and public affairs for the Dimock Community Health Center and served for ten years at ATandT Cable, prior to its purchase by Comcast Cablevision.

In his capacity as chief of external affairs and communications, Tompkins oversees all community outreach efforts on behalf of the Sheriff’s Department. Tompkins will be taking an official leave of absence from his position at the Sheriff’s Department, effective August 6, 2012.

Tompkins is a graduate of Boston College, where he earned an undergraduate degree in communications; and the McCormack Graduate School of Policy and Global Studies at the University of Massachusetts/Boston where he received a Masters degree in Public Affairs.
