Fiddlehead Theatre Company will present an all-youth production of the musical FAME JR., a one-hour “pop-up" dinner theater experience at Restaurant Laura in Dorchester during ArtWeek Boston®. The Dudley Street Neighborhood Initiative, Uphams Corner Main Street and the Strand Theatre are partners in this project. A cast of multilingual teen singers and dancers from Dorchester and surrounding neighborhoods will perform the popular musical as diners enjoy the finest in Cape Verdean cuisine.

Set during the last years of New York City's celebrated High School for the Performing Arts on 46th Street in 1980-1984, before its merger with LaGuardia High School, FAME JR. is the bittersweet but ultimately inspiring story of a diverse group of students who commit to four years of grueling artistic and academic work. With candor, humor, and insight, the show explores the issues that confront many young people today.

As the new Resident Theatre Company of Dorchester's historic Strand Theatre, Fiddlehead is proud to participate in ArtWeek Boston® presented by Highland Street Foundation in partnership with Citi Performing Arts Center. ArtWeek Boston, loosely based on Restaurant Week, is a collection of curated events/experiences throughout the city that highlights the quality and diversity of arts, culture, and entertainment in Boston. Each ArtWeek event links with local partners to enhance the customer experience, drive neighborhood economic impact, and build awareness about the area’s creative economy. ArtWeek is designed to rapidly become a new Boston tradition as well as a model for statewide and national expansion.
