I am pleased to announce that M.Y.T.O.W.N (Multicultural Youth Tour Of What's Now) is again offering youth led historical walking tours of the South End. Join us and experience Boston's young people and history in a whole new way!

What is M.Y.T.O.W.N?

M.Y.T.O.W.N's mission is to use the process of sharing local history to empower young people and build appreciation of urban neighborhoods. To advance this mission, M.Y.T.O.W.N trains and employs Boston teens as Youth Guides who research local history and build skills to develop and lead historical walking tours. Through this work Youth Guides develop leadership, communication, cultural competency, critical thinking and work-readiness skills and gain ownership of their community so they are prepared to be citizen changemakers in their own right.

M.Y.T.O.W.N's youth lead tours focus on the experiences and contributions of Boston's ethnic and immigrant communities, the citizen activism that lead to affordable housing and greenspace, and the impact that leaders like Dr. Martin Luther King and Harriet Tubman had on the city. These stories show how diverse groups of people have worked to build the Boston you see today.
