The Health Educator assumes an important role as a member of the Prevention Team to plan, implement, and conduct Community-Based Prevention projects and programs. The Health Educator will teach health education in schools, clinical settings and various community-based organizations on topics including but not limited to HIV/AIDS, STI's, Underage Drinking, Marijuana, Leadership Skills and Nutrition. The Health Educator will also perform and offer oversight to the HIV and Hepatitis C counseling and testing at various community locations as well as our Community Health Centers. Duties include tracking various data using complex data tracking systems and assisting in the reporting and evaluation data to grant funders, establishing working relationships with public health and social services organizations within the catchment area to conduct outreach and prevention education as well as develop new relationships with locations/organizations to bring our programming to a broader audience.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Health Education, Human Services, Counseling, Health & Wellness or related field, one year of experience (paid or volunteer) in community organizing, health education and promotion; excellent verbal/written communications skills; proven effective communications skills with various populations of differing socioeconomic backgrounds; ability to develop effective evaluations tools; ability to analyze and make recommendations for improvement; computer Literacy with Basic level skills in Microsoft Word, Access & Outlook, Intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel.

Preferred Skills, Experience and Educational Requirements: Experience in HIV Health education and promotion, Bi-lingual English/Spanish, English/Vietnamese, English/Haitian Creole, English/Cape Verde Creole, Data collection and outreach experience, Certified Health Education Specialist or Certified Prevention Specialist.
