How do you feel about the recent rash
of disrespect to President Obama?

Among all the presidents this country has had, Barack Obama is unique. I believe he is resourceful enough to deal with any disrespect which comes from people who are not used to an African American president.

President Obama had a tough job coming in. Basically, to unite the country is really the important thing. Between the Bush era and now, it’s really about uniting.

He’s not getting the level of respect he should. It’s partially because of his race. How could he have lied when his proposals haven’t been implemented yet?

Basically, the House of Representatives should have some sense of diplomacy when addressing our world leader. In turn, Rep. Joe Wilson should have been reprimanded by the Speaker of the House as a result of his heckling. He should have been escorted out of the chambers.

I think President Obama should be given a show of respect because he is the leader. Congressmen are supposed to behave in a professional manner. Rep. Joe Wilson’s action is no different from that of that imbecile outburst [by] rapper Kanye West.

I was flabbergasted. My grandchildren called me saying they knew I was upset by the disrespect of our president. I’m upset for our children [at the disrespect shown] by the people who are taking away their rights.
